Counselling

We can put you in touch with a trained and experienced counsellor who offers specialised emotional support to students in the pursuit of IT training with us here at Azalea Academy.

This service is free, inclusive and available to all students who experience difficulties continuing their IT training course due to their emotional well-being. If we offer you counselling after the initial well-being assessment, we will invite you to an initial single session which lasts 50 minutes.

One session may be enough but if you feel that a follow-up session would be helpful, we can schedule further sessions one at a time, as needed. We advise you to prepare for your session before your appointment by

thinking about what you would like from the meeting with your counsellor and whether there is anything you have done before that you found helpful. This could be a good starting point to initiate conversation and will give the counsellor a good idea of how to best help you.

How to get support

Request support by emailing us for an initial Well-being call. Please email hello@azalea-academy.com to book your call.

Once you have completed your well-being call we will then email you the appointment details which includes where you need to go for your appointment. We will also send you a questionnaire to complete and bring to your appointment.

If for any reason, you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact us or the counsellor directly as soon as possible to cancel or reschedule. The contact details of your assigned counsellor will be in your confirmation email.

Mental health crisis or emergency

For emergencies, contact 999 immediately or call NHS 111 if you or someone you know needs urgent care, but it is not life threatening.

If you feel that you need to talk to someone urgently, the NHS mental health helpline page has a list of organisations you can call for immediate assistance.

The Samaritans are also available and operate a free service which is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for anyone who wants to talk in confidence. You can give them a call on 116 123 for more information and support  or visit their website here.
